Do you know why we
have the furry pine at Christmas time?
It is because of a little bear, a very little bear
who loved all that his eyes could see and paws could touch
so very much that he traveled to the other side of the blue to
find out just who to say thank you to. While he was there he was shown
around and introduced to everyone, the stars, the moon, the sun. What he
learned lingered long after he returned. That to live and really be, you had to
give, not only receive. He thought that all he possessed was his burry gurr and
coat of fur, and wondered how they could be of value to anyone except him.
Then he looked at his friends the trees, shivering in the winter wind - -
so
very
carefully
he began to
take off his
coat, a hair at a
time,and tenderly
covered every twig of
every barren limb of his
friends who from then on
would be known
as the
furry pine.
